I want to switch to another phone from my G3. Maybe my problems with the G3 could help you guys suggest a phone. I don't like the feeling in the hand, it's too big. I also don't like the camera app, it feels slow. I also don't like the LG version of Android. Small things like the dial pad aren't aesthetically pleasing. I also have some problems with Android itself, some tips are greatly appreciated. What apps do you use for podcasts, I'm coming from iOS, where I loved the podcast app. What message app do you use? What keyboard do you use? Overall, I want to buy another Android phone at the end of July. I don't have an upgrade till March but I think I should be able to buy a phone and sub it in. Do you know if this is possible? I'm looking at the S6 Edge for the phone. I'm not a huge fan of TouchWiz though. What phones do you guys recommend? Thanks for reading, I know this was rambling, I'm tired.

I find the OnePlus one perfect. Cm12 is speedy and way beautiful, and you can get it for $300 for a 64gb model. Only downside is the OnePlus 2 coming in a month.

It's still to big for me though.

heres the deal

if you don't like messing with your phone and hacking it and customizing it..then android really isn't for you

the best part of android is custom roms/customization

you need to look at various phones and what custom roms are available for it

for a really nice phone for cheap

I would be looking at the zen phone 2

it has a pretty healthy community around it

any of the nexus devices are really good to..cause they get lots of updates and are updated the longest

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

If you're saying that the g3 is too big for you then, the s6 is the right size. 5.5 vs 5.1

Again, the ZenPhone is too big. It's a comfort problem.

Since the G3 is too big for you, that leaves the G4 out of the list. I also have to leave out the ASUS Zenfone 2 because it's also a 5.5-inch phone and the HTC One M9, because the large bezels do make the device feel too tall at times. The Nexus 6 is also out due to obvious reasons (it's a 6-inch phone), and the OnePlus One as well, for the same reason.

Basically, it comes down to these.

1) 2014 Motorola Moto X

2) Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge

3) Sony XPERIA Z3 Compact

Those are the ones I know so far. I know all 3 phones and from my personal experience, they're all awesome. Plus, they're smaller than your G3, which should make handling easier and more comfortable. Specs-wise, the Z3 Compact and the Moto X have the same specs as the G3.

If you love stock Android, then there's little choice. The Moto X is for you. But do consider the other 2.

Best keyboard app is SwiftKey by far. Predictive auto-correct actually made me much faster at typing. Used it since 2013, never went back.

I personally use the stock LG messaging app on the G4 as it's good enough for me. Google Hangouts is a good alternative if you don't want to use the stock one.

As for podcasts, iDK. I don't listen to podcasts, personally.

What about the Droid Turbo that Linus has?

Ah yes, the beastly Droid Turbo (also called the Moto Maxx in other countries).

Personally, I think this is the ultimate phone for really heavy users since the 3,900mAh battery ensures that you'll have a good amount of charge left at the end of a medium-heavy workload day.

The only con is the rate it receives updates. It's non-Verizon branded cousin, the Moto Maxx, receives updates sooner than the Turbo, thanks to Verizon. The Turbo is currently still on KitKat, which, depending on how skeptical you are of Lollipop's issues, may or may not be alright for you.

How much is it off contract?
