The list above is 659 USD so that's 814 CAD

So 69 more CAD isn't that bad.

This is what i change based on everyones opinion

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/Q9wxK8

Anymore changes?

I don't know man, you seem to waste your budget on expensive motherboard, ram and case.

That dual core cpu would bottleneck any decent card.

And why a 960? It's very overpriced for what you get.

A R9 280X beats the shit out of a 960 as shown in this video:

It's 270$ in Canada: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/his-video-card-h280xqm3g2m

So the cheapest quad core + mini-itx motherboard + R9 280X would make a beast system.

You can squeeze an i5 in there but do have to sacrifice the SSD.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/tqNrBm

I thought we agreeded that we shouldn't support Nvidia for what they are doing, and in this case the 280X is way bettter then a 960. And it has 3GB of vram which is minimum for today's standards.

The only reason one should get a 960 is if they have a 4K TV with HDMI 2.0 and want to game on it at 60HZ. They would still be bottlenecked by that 2GB of vram in most games.

Storage is his least concern. He could get a external drive after finishing his build.

960 is cheaper by a bit and I'm just doing 1080p not many aaa titles and i have a 2tb drive laying around. Plus if you go through the thread you'll realize why we got a better mother board.

Agreed on the case / board / ram but really the 280X is too expensive in the build if he wants an SSD, the 960 at 230 fits and beats a 285/280..

Who agreed?

The 280x is a better card in raw performance.. but if he wants an i5 and an ssd, then thats out of the picture at 270 bucks.. the 960 is the next best thing that still puts him slightly over.

The motherboard reasoning is on the first page ram is cheap for canada and the case is for cable management for the non-modualer power supply. Plus 280X just beat the 960 and i  prefer nvidia but i would put a amd gpu in it out performed the 960 for the same price.

Can be removed from the enclosure and put inside the build very easily.

Indeed. I plan to use only ssd's in my next build (250GB for OS/Programs and 500GB for Games only). And then use my current external 3TB hdd for storage.

I just hate the noise hdd's make  :P

They also take extra space in the case.

Not really a reason when you can flash the bios off a usb key or similar.. or if you have a friend / relative that has an older chip that would work (or local computer store to buy off / ask to update the bios, hell even a member who may live near you..) and save the cash vs a board with no real physical advantage.

On the case.. Just no.. you can manage cables in the oldest and feature lacking of cases.. modern cases are way over engineered.. Nice to have, yes.. but not at the cost of performance..

On your budget look at function over fashion. A few cable ties and the bottom of the hdd cage and your done..

Besides, the CX430M (semi-modular) is only $3 more...

I agree on the 960, the 280x just isn't worth the extra spend.. especially at your budget.

Would you consider used?

I'm sure you could get an old unlocked i5 + board, ram, case and psu and still have enough to get a used 290 and new ssd..

Go scrapyard wars on that budget.. you'll get a rocking rig, just not the latest or greatest (not that you will anyway)

No I wouldn't i just don't trust and where i live thats not possible. i live in a city but no one here pc games, they all use consoles. Sadly.

Plus my pc part picker i set up to use the 4 websites i trust. Newell, nix, amazon, and canada computers so the prices are a bit different but ill try rebuilding it skimping out on a couple things.

Or you could be smart and get the lowest price from anywhere and then price-match.. Ncix and memory express do this I believe

$20 over.. gives i5 and better quality ssd (the V300, you just don't know what parts are being used)

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/mfCNHx

These days, you really want an i3 or i5 at least... yes the pentium overclocks like a boss but multiple cores are getting more and more important.. Fair enough you don't play many games which takes advantage of it yet.. but how long do you want the build to last?

The pentium WILL start to bottleneck you.. I find it hard to believe H1Z1 doesn't use at least 2 cores... then what does the system use, got skype open? steam? music? web page?

Even without these, give it a year or 2 and you WILL be playing games that need more cores and then you'll have to upgrade again.

And if money for upgrades wasn't an issue, we wouldn't be trying to fit a whole build in what many are spending on a GPU.. The smart option here is the i5, it'll allow you to do more and allow the machine to last longer, thus getting you more value for your money.

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P
