I just put together my first computer build and its working fine. Except for one problem i cant connect my to displays to my graphics card since it has only one DVI display port. right now i have one monitor hooked up to the graphics card dvi port and the other to its hdmi port so that i can use them together but not have them mirror each other. id prefer both monitors to be hooked up via dvi. i know a splitter wont work but i would like to know if i hook another graphics card and use sli to connect them if that would work. i know i have the necessary cables and i know my power supply and motherboard can handle another graphics card i just need to know if it would work before i buy another one or if anyone can make any other recommendations on how to fix this.

Why don't you want to use dvi and hdmi?

first the dvi works better than hdmi form my point of view and my dvi screen seems brighter and has better resolution than the hdmi one but i think thats because the graphics card is prioritizing the dvi cable. second im a little ocd when things dont match it bugs the hell out of me.

when i used the splitter it wouldnt let me it stayed as a duplicate because both screens used the same port.

What graphics card?

Sorry but the only thing that is true in that statement is about your ocd.

No power is sent to the monitor via the display cable. Brightness is controlled directly on the monitor. And resolution doesn't change from one to the other.
