Which GTX 970?

Hi everyone. Was looking at EVGA B stock and this may sound like a noobish question, but which GTX 970 is better all around? I see 6 different versions, and my brother wants to know what's the best to get. Thanks for reading. Also he may want to do a dual card setup, just incase that helps determine which to get.

Also, we do need some more information. How many video outputs, is silence important, is low power draw important, is overclocking important...?

g1 gaming is the best 970.

I really like my msi 970, its ultra quiet and only game that got me to 70c is witcher 3 so far Great card, i'm new to pc gaming and never had any other card but can't say anything wrong about it.

Unless it is going to be heavily overclocked you wont see much difference. The MSI often has coil whine though.

Doesn't matter, you have had more trouble with the mistake than I did

 

Now, there are only 2 EVGA 970's with 3 Displayport outputs, the rest have only 1. (I'm going to assume you're going to use Displayport, since it's the best connector currently on the market, and can be changed to anything else with adapters).

 

First, you have the Super SuperClocked (SSC). This one is a bit cheaper than the other option.

Than, you have the For The Win Plus (FTW+). A little bit more expensive in some cases, but comes with a backplate (unlike the SSC), and runs a higher clock speed, meaning for a bit more FPS. We are talking here about a few frames extra at most, keep that in mind.

 

Honestly, you'll be more than fine with the SSC. But, if the FTW+ is available and not too much more, it'll be a nice step up.

Second of all, it could be that it helps with the temperatures. But, again, best case scenario. In a normal situation, it may or may not help.

So, you can only be sure of the aesthetic thing. It can be added later on, if you get the SSC. Here's EVGA's own backplate, which you will then mount yourself if you want it on the SSC. The FTW+ has it pre-installed.

i think all of evgas cards a flop, my mate paid £64 more for his ftw+ 970 than i paid for my msi one and at the same clock speeds mine beats his.
