Which will run better together?

Russer

Hey folks,

I am about to build my first computer, and I am on a bit of a crossroad mainly regarding the CPU, which I will use and the GPU.

I have four candidates for my CPU:

  • AMD FX-8350 Black Edition
  • AMD A10-7870K Black Edition
  • Intel i5-4460
  • Intel i3-4370

I have two candidates for my GPU:

  • AMD Radeon R7 370 4GB Strix
  • Gainward GeForce GTX 960 2GB "Phantom-GLH"

I have chosen these based on their numbers/specs given by the distributor, and they are within my budget-range all of them. There will be an overall higher cost if I choose an AMD CPU due to the cost of the matching motherboard, but I am willing to do so.

I have chosen a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU cooler for the CPU cooler, though I might not be neccesary if the stock coolers for the AMD will suffice, though I doubt it. I will prefer to stick with this, though I am willing to "upgrade" to a more effecient cooler.

The memory cards (RAM) I have chosen is Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 2x4GB.

The main use for my computer will be gaming, though I intend on doing recording and rendering in the near future.

If you need further info regarding the rest of the components I have chosen then feel free to ask.

4460 and 370 would be best for gaming, but also the most expensive most likely.

Save yourself the money and get a 4460 with a 280X. I need to update my price knowledge with the newer cards, and what exactly their performance is, but from my logical assumptions, that'd be the build I go with.

The 280X is straight up better than a 370. Its on par with a 380. Your suggestion of 4460 + 280X is actually what i would have gone for aswell...

So performance, got it. Good, now I don't have to suddenly rush to the store to get more horseradish for my gpu to make it better than the 370.

The distributor (best in my coutry) does not have the R9 280X on their list... Though they have the R9 380 which is some what same price range as the others?

Thank to you all for being so quick at answering.
