I am looking for a sub to go with my Audio Engine A5+ speakers.

My budget is around $150 and the sub has to be powered.

Looking for people with experience with certain sub(s), not people who just search "subwoofer" on google and link me.

Based on my experience, that's an awfully low budget for a subwoofer. You might be able to find something used for that price. But a modern, tight, and powerful sub is going to be around $500.

I got a sub for about 120$, that seems to be the best sub people recomend in the price range

I don't know man that might be a great sub for that price point, but it only extends down to 35 Hz. A robust subwoofer will go down to 16 or so. Can you hear at that frequency? Hell no. Can you feel it? Yes!

I was all into $250 subwoofers and less. Then I bought a $1,000 sub and the difference is night and day. I could really tell the difference. I used to own a Klipsch and I thought I was boss. Then I got a Power Sound Audio sub and this thing is rocking my world. It mixes so well with music. In movies, I can feel the transport ship landing in Sta Trek. It's not just low frequency noise.

But then again, I'm a serious bass head. I actually just ordered a dual 18 inch subwoofer. I cannot wait for it to show up.

@JohnT, lol what subwoofers are you buying. I don't know any commercial sub that does 16hz.

That's because I don't shop at Best Buy  :P

Check out this bad ass sub from Power Sound Audio (PSA) http://www.powersoundaudio.com/collections/subwoofers/products/v1500

It is abnormally perfect. I posted some pictures of it when I received it. I can find the post if you want.

I'd be skeptical of that. 16Hz is really hard to do cleanly, the only real instrument that can really go that low is the pipe organ, and it requires a literal 32-foot long pipe to achieve it.

Build one. Find an old car amplifier, speaker, and make a box. Run the amp off of a 12v power supply and put a capacitor on it. My 150w 6ch amp is using a 12w power supply without any issues because of the capacitor.

That's a very bad idea. At least if you don't know what you're doing (by that I mean, you should know how to model a sub enclosure, and then build it, including whatever damping material you're going to use, etc.) It's a rather complicated process if you're trying to build something that actually sounds good. If you just want crappy, boomy bass, then do this... You may be able to find the audioengine S8 subwoofer used somewhere, and then it would actually match your speakers.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)

Or just look up the datasheet for the speaker being used...
