The computer Detects the cable and the lights light up on the router and on the back of the computer in the port, i'm using a cat 6 cable. the LAN shows up i think but it doesn't connect i don't think my mother board has built in wifi so idk if i need to disable something.

dumb question but have you tried the automatical repair tool ? helped me a lot with my lan connection

Could you give us the motherboard model. Try pinging google. Its the first step I always do to see if the network is down or acting funny. If you're willing to, bring up command prompt and type "ping www.google.com" and see if you get a connection or if it times out.

 

Power off, power on modem/router?

If you have a separate computer, you can copy the drivers to a flash drive and install it on your PC.
