I'd just like to get some information with regards to the quality of service and net speed of Singaporean ISPs. There's a very good chance that I may end up working there anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, so it would be beneficial for me to know which ISP I should consider signing up to during my stay (I will be looking for a place to rent).

So far, I only have seen the information that MyRepublic and Singtel have put on their websites as well as referring to these links with regard to speed.

Any information and suggestions are appreciated.

Afaik the speeds there are just insane, and really cheap.

Singapore has a healthy ISP market whatever, it's very competitive.

What's the question?

Which ISP should I go for?

They're all pretty solid actually. But some of the wireless router they provide is shit and there's no way to change it yourself.

You can't replace them with one that you can buy yourself? I'd be ready and willing to buy my own router and switch out the provided one after receiving my paycheck.

I'm not sure if all isps practise this but the one I'm using (starhub) will need me to give them a call and have them unlock the router if I want to change the wireless router.

Check with the isp first.

For gaming MyRepublic and ViewQwest.  Singtel, Starhub and M1 are pretty similar.  Singtel provides Aztec routers, MyRepublic provides Asus routers.

I guess MyRepublic it is, then. Should be helpful, since I would like to stream/record and upload video during weekends.

The USA is about the only country (In my current view. I'm pretty certain there are others, it's just the first in my mind) I'd ever avoid living in for any extended period of time (IE 6 months or more).

Always a good thing, that Google Fiber.

Part of me just wishes it would come over here to the Philippines.

Still very pricey and largely locked to non-NCR Luzon (Currently in Visayas). At least there might be some improvement, assuming this gets implemented well (Not too confident, but hey, we can hope):
