Hello guys,

my question is when the update to Windows 10 comes out and i upgrade it do i lose all my installed programms or are they safe? And if they are lost can i save them somehow?

They'll be fine. You'll lose windows media player though as Microsoft hasn't included it in Windows 10. that is all

Windows media player is totally different to windows media center which is what they are actually leaving out.

media player stays and gets some improvements. media center is gone.

I was drawn here by the fact that your avatar is the same avatar as someone I know. Guess it must be popular.

OT: AFAIK whenever you install windows it wipes the drive. But I'm pretty sure it just a issues an update idk

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I literally upgraded to win10 preview yesterday and lost everything. Not only did I lose everything but it runs really bad. I'm going to format and do a clean install today, but backup whatever you need because things don't always work like MS says they do.

I assume it will work just like upgrading from 7 to 8/8.1 or from 8 to 8.1, so you'll most likely get to keep all your installed programs (possibly with the exception of ones that aren't compatible with Win 10, which is a shortlist, afaik)

Nice to hear! Windows Media Player isnt a big loss for me :D
