Mobo bottlenecking my GPU?

Hi, thanks for checking out my post - I have a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-G31M-ES2L if I remember off the top of my head) an Intel quad core Q8300 oc'd to 3GHz, and a GTX750 1gb MSI card (non reference cooler). My graphics card uses PCIe gen 3, but of course, is backward compatible with the PCIe gen 2 on my mobo. When a game gives me recommended settings, I find it hard to run those without applying overclock to my GPU. Usually the setting effected most is textures - something I understand uses memory, which can be affected by PCIe. My question is, is my mobo limiting my GPU such that I have to play lower than recommended settings for 60fps, or is it just the fact that a 1gb gddr5 ram buffer is just becoming outdated? Thanks

i dont think mobos can bottleneck. unless its not pcie

It all seems evenly matched, no issues, to go higher end, i would move to a newer intel Core series CPU.

PCIe speed is rarely the issue, as 2.0 8x is usually enough. I'm almost certain it's increasing demands on graphics memory.

Thanks for all of your help! But yeah it makes sense to me that it might just be my card not having enough memory to hold all the textures
