Best video editing software for my situation

werto165

I just have a funny clip from half life 2 it's about 20 seconds, however it was recorded through shadowplay, so I would just have to take it from about 10 minutes of gameplay, what's the easiest way to got the 20 second snippet and upload it to a site? whether that be youtube or a gif service? I would use windows movie maker but it doesn't want to work.

Windows Movi.. Oh.

What is not working? Because it definitely is the easiest and cheapest (free).

What is missing? Maybe I do have the file..

But otherwise you can upload the full 10 minutes to YouTube and they have a trimming tool too.

Well my upload is total crap. It is like 1.6GB for a 6 mins clip or something ridiculous, really not worth it, I could just describe it. In hl2 you have squads that you can order to move to a certain position I pointed towards a wall. I think it was a bug in the physics engine because when I order to move them to the wall one of the members got stuck to the wall and instantly died, probably have an acceleration limit before characters die anyway going into the wall most likely makes the acceleration go off the charts and kills them. So basically squad members killing each other, right after that squad member killed that guy he says something along the lines of " Team let's follow freeman" just thought it was kinda ironic.

Hello a bit late to the party, A dll missing should be fairly easy to fix, it's usually a version of directx or something like that, that you are missing. try googling it.

Lightworks is a proffesional video editing software that has been used for some pretty big titles such as Braveheart, Good will hunting and Pulp fiction. This is their website https://www.lwks.com/ It's free although you will have to pay something like 60USD to have the patentent codecs included. (also runs on linux)

If you want free no trial period or pay for full features video editing software, i would actually suggest dual booting linux. They have some pretty good free ones over there.

Linux: OpenShot: http://www.openshot.org/I guess you could call it the movie maker of linux.

Linux: My personal favorite for linux. Kdenlive https://kdenlive.org/It has some pretty nice options and are more than suffecient for what you need right now.

Additionally VLC has a video editor in development http://www.videolan.org/vlmc/I can't find a download link right now, but i know for a fact that i downloaded and used it a 6 months ago. Maybe you can find it somewhere.

Edit: There is always the option of getting the 30 day trial of Premiere pro http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html It was fully featured with no restrictions when i tried it a couple of years ago. Can only imagine it's still the case. only difference is a pop up when you launch telling you how many days you got left. Could be a solution while you look for a more permanent one. No credit card needed or anything binding (at least not 2 years ago)

Just remember to save often as these programs tend to crash, even premiere pro.

Good luck! :)
