I have recently (2 years) been playing games at graphical settings that you could compare to a 2 year with a colouring book, I noticed Gta V started to not load textures properly as well as colour distortion during some sections of the map. Funnily enough I turned the pc on the next day and it booted fine, but no display... I opened the side panel finding that the fan isn't spinning which I believe is the meaning that it is finally time for an upgrade.

Main specs

I7-2600

8gb ram

500w thermal take psu (non modular / 80plus)

Some crap hp case

I have around 700-750 AUD to spend if anything I'd like to be able to get a case, powersupply, graphics card (obviously) and a new CPU cooler. nvidia is a preference but any advice is better than nothing!

Regards shifty

Is that a 2600 or a 2600k? It is probably just a 2600 since it seems like you've got yourself a pre built PC, in that case get a GTX 970 or a 290X/390X (whatever is cheaper), treat yourself to a decent case (let me know what form factor you would like and I'll have a look for something decent), and a new PSU. A semi/full modular 500-650 watt will be more than enough to last you ages. That should all be around $650~.

Edit - Oh and if you are unhappy with the noise and heat of your stock Intel cooler grab a Hyper 212 from Cooler Master, that should be around $50.

Edit 2 - Just a quick list

Literally anything is better than that. Anything.

For 1080p The r9 280X, 290 and 290X are good options. and The GTX 970 is also good. 770 and older cards can hold their weight too, but not as well.

Form factor is a micro atx, the case I have essentially has a front 120mm dust intake then a 120mm directly opposite exhausting cold air for some reason, and the psu / dead gpu used to fight for cool air. The new CPU cooler is more of a want than a need right now, at the moment it is just some stock amd looking thing yhat doesn't really cool it during the summer etc

Something like this look ok? You can reuse your fans in a new case to provide more airflow too, that combined with decent CPU cooler will keep everything cool all year round.

You probably won't need top-end gear to get a substantial improvement over what you're used to just now.

Get a Corsair 200R, a Hyper 212 Evo cooler, the most inexpensive 80+ bronze modular or semi-modular PSU you can get, and then see about something like an r9 290, or if you must stick to Nvidia, a 970 or even a second hand 780.

I was looking at a similar gpu superclocked ++ or something on pccasegear as for the case, I do like it but 350d doesn't seem like a bad option either except that it costs twice as much haha....

Well it doesn't really matter where you get your parts from, although it is usually better to get them all from the one store because unlike the Americans here we have to pay for shipping. I'll have a look for equivalent stuff on PCCG if that is the retailer you want to buy from, I'll update you in a few minutes once I've found it all.

There you go mate, this should be within your budget in Aussie land.

That list is done up using the US PCPartPicker site, that exact list cost $800 in Australia not including shipping.

A little bit more expensive but you will save shipping costs getting it all from PCCG.

Ah, I didn't realize pcpartpicker had an aussie setting, well you should be able to shave 50$ off the PSU for a cheaper one.

Even then you still have to add an extra of 30-100AUD (varies a lot depending on distance) for standard shipping too, not to toot my own horn but the list I have already posted is more economical for OP.

if your case and psu support it go for a 970, otherwise it might be worth getting a cheap second hand z67 based motherboard and a new case to go along with that. Pre-built motherboards are usually a bit specific when it comes to base switches/IO and dont usually have the ATX standard

Yeah his PSU and case will be able to accommodate a 970 but would you really want to keep it all in a piece of shit HP case and power supply? Of course not, there isn't any point getting a Z67 board as OP has a locked 2600.
