I'm looking for 4k game recording software and screen capture. I used to use OBS and loved it when i was recording in 1080p. But currently OBS wants to scale my recording and it looks like shit, in Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas. After playing around with OBS's setting I determined that either I don't know the correct settings or and most likely OBS is not capable of Outputting 4k yet.

I am currently using Nvidia's Shadow Play. It works until you try to implement Push to Talk. if I use Push to talk my videos have a tone of green artifacts show up and I can't get rid of them. I currently have a need for push to talk because i am making some Instructional videos for a game I play. If worse comes to worse i can record what i want to say and add it in while editing but i really prefer saying what I'm doing as I am doing it.

Do you of any Game recording software that can record a game with out burning resources like fraps does and that can record and output 4k video, that will also allow me to add my voice?
Granted more than likely i will compress the video to 1080p durring the final render, but it will look fine if I compress it then.

Here is where I would keep my frolics if I had any.

SNIP

use a different audio recording program that has push to talk, and just sync up the start times

(although why you need push to talk I am not sure)

Xsplit might be a good option for something better

XSplit and maybe Dxtory too. Anyway, you need to pay to get that kind of features as they aren't so common for regular gamers.

I don't mind paying as long as its worth it, I'm not a huge fan of the Xsplit subscription though, I'd rather just pay once.

you won't really be able to capture and play at the same time for 4k

unless you get a 4k hardware encoder

I don't think NVENC even supports 4k encoding yet

I use dxtory as it is one of the best, even better then shadow play, it also works well with vitual splitters!

  • 2 weeks later...

bandicam works for recording in 4k and isn't to hard on performance.  I usually only lose a few fps when recording.  File size will probably be larger than Shadowplay because the bitrate is much higher even if you turn settings down

edit: not at home right now so not sure if bandicam has push to talk or not.
