hello guys

today i changed from the default i5's cooler to my old corsair h55 and i'm having high temps

10361323_10152841833541389_4433746616055

i hadnt noticed so high temps with the default cpu, i thought ~75 was max under heavy load

now when i played CSGO it could go up to 95-98 at some moments :S

i know these are insane numbers

i want to ask u some questions; first i am not OCing, is that ~3900 mhz normal? (it was supposed to be 3500 i think)

also, is it normal to reach 100% usage on all 4 cores?

i used this thermal paste:

Aida64 will push 100% on all cores to stress it, but those temps are too high. Try resetting the cpu cooler again and post back your success or unsuccess.

if everything even the vcore is at default, then no, it is not normal at all.

You might wanna remount your cooler again, take it out, give it a good wipe clean everything, and reapply thermal paste. A pea size in the middle is what everyone recommend, i myself find smearing it evenly with finger works the best so give it a try if pea size fails you.

it is not normal to reach 100% unless you stress testing.

if not running it will shut down the computer right away i think. (because it is too hot that is what i meant)

thats got badly seated cooler written all over it. Simply take off the cooler and clean it off, re apply thermal paste and reseat the cooler. If done correctly, your temps should go down. Also be noted that thermal paste has a cure time before performing optimally. So you might have slightly high temps for the first day or two.

not necessarily, if the fan is running the heat transfer to the radiator can cool it a bit so it wont over heat at idle, but it can boot without pump the pump just plugs into a fan header and runs like a fan.

Doesn't look like too much, but everyone has their preference about amount, but how old is that h55?

bought it last summer

i had it on my amd and about a month ago i bought a new pc

i had to remove my h55 because it has 2 stupid foams with glue that can be used only once and waited for corsair to send me a new mounting kit cause we also fucked up the threads while trying to remove my h55 from my amd

yeap

Could be an air bubble that's stuck. What mobo is that z97 msi gaming 5?

Check the bios for any overvoltage. And that Intel speedstep is on its not locking at 3900mhz is it?

I'm running a 4690k with seidon 120m which is similar to your cooler.

OC 4.5GHz @ 1.24v - idle around 35-38C with heavy load under 75.

I recommend to resit the cooler, make sure you have a good contact, tighten it but stop when you sense any resistant.

Make sure you set the pump at full speed, otherwise you won't get a nice temp.

well, i tried to fix that with 2 friends (removed and places the h55 again with them) but no luck..

i just put the intel's default cooler and i have normal temps (32-64 , the max was while playing CSGO)

i really think my h55 has a problem

i checked the pumps while i had it on, the one was cold and the other one hot as hell. and they seems to have some movement inside :D

thats a z87-g43 gaming

i have no idea what are u talking about at the second line :P

if its a bubble that's stuck, how can i fix it?

i have to mention that my h55 was inactive in a box for ~1 month

Check the bios settings or maybe cpu-z make sure the cpu voltage is normal. Idle it will drop to like .79V if speedstep is on automatically throttles the processor based on usage so it should drop to like 800mhz. If the cooler is seated properly with good contact and the pumps running full speed then check that next and make sure the processor isn't somehow stuck at like 1.2 or jumping really high just to run at 3.9ghz

Well sounds like you have some flow of liquid if one tube is hot and the others cold how fast were you running the cpu fan on it?

a guy on another forum told me he had to maximize the fluid speed actually..

i didnt check that to be honest cause when i had it on my amd, i didnt need to change anything via bios

Have you made sure the backplate is the right way around?

yeah

well, its probably the pump/fluid speed i guess

i dont have any more thermal paste to put my h55 again now (i put intel's default cooler and i got some cool temps)

but i'll try it as soon as i get a new thermal paste
