I would go with the 980ti. It will run cooler and be more efficient.

Should i go for 2 970's in sli or just a single 980ti. I noticed that with benchmarks the 970 sli always seems to come out a little bit better but would it be more simple with just one card? What do you think?

If you don't have a GTX 970 go with the 980ti. And BTW, I recommend the Inno3D, the fan noise of Gigabyte's card is horrendous (as per usual-cheap fan motors) and EVGA's card is louder:

I think I am going to wait for asus's 980ti strix edition to come out.

Fair warning, the cooler on all Strix cards do date has been fairly cheap compared to other ones.

980Ti for sure. Make sure you get the non-reference one.

The reference card is quieter than the Gigabyte one however, so I myself would say steer clear of both if noise is an issue.
