I still don't know whether to get the 290 or 290x, I'm just looking to play 1080p. I Am torn between the Sapphire Tri-x 290/290x or the PowerColor 290 PCS+ card. I am leaning towards a 290, because of the better value. Please share thoughts and/or opinions!

Tri-X will squeeze the most performance out of the card but if you don't really care about overclocking and want the card a bit cheaper the PowerColor is a good option.

Can you also tell me what other cards are around the same-ish price?

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

Tri X cooler is one of the best AMD coolers out there.

Sapphire is exclusive to AMD and they usually make the best non reference coolers.

Here's a R9 290 Tri X review, temps are fine and so as noise.

Tri-X is better, but I would get the Powercolor as it's a better value

For 1080p the R9 290 is perfect, the 290X is kinda overkill

1080p, a 280X handles that pretty well, just saying unless you have a monitor that is higher than 60hz it's a good choice.

I'm gonna use a 144hz monitor.

I'd go Tri-X myself since it has such an amazing cooler, but PCS+ is outstanding too. In the US they're pretty much the same price. The PCS+ comes with a better factory overclock.

PCS+ is a badass card too, and on a 290 level can actually compete with even the Vapor-X.

She is also at 4k :P Sapphire and Gigabyte Windforce are the best coolers on the market for AMD which they need.

Get a 390X because it is a 290X.

Make sense?

It shouldn't be that way...  This new AMD Fury had better be something or it will be AMD's "Last Gen" and $500 mid-range GPUs will come.

Anyways, my suggestion is to wait two days for the 300 series and then decide.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

If you get a good 290, it'll OC and match or even exceed a stock 290X. If there's little price difference (less than $50), grab a 290X. If the price difference is more significant (more than $50), grab a 290 instead and OC it a little.

Sapphire Tri-X/Vapour X

Powercolor PSC+

Those are the best 290's on the market. If you can find them, the HIS IceQx2 is right up there with the Tri-X in terms of temps and performance. Not a well-known brand in north america, but I can personally vouch, they are very well-made 290's and often sell for less than the others. ;)

Wait for the rebranded 390x or go check out your local best-buy to see if they have any in stock or if they were pulled from shelves.

Price drops should hit a day or 2 before release.
