Log in failed to Games for Windows Live (GTA IV)

Yes I didn't actually have that Markteplace software, I had Microsoft Games For Windows - Live Redistributable and Microsoft Games For Windows - LIVE and deleted those.

I've read that you should disable two-step verification on your GFWL account if you have it turned on. If that doesn't work i don't know what else to suggest.

Hey fellows,

 

I bought GTA IV + Missiong from Liberty City from Steam couple days ago but I have not been able to play it.

 

If I want to even save my game progress it requires me to log in with Live ID (Games for Windows Live account idunno) in the game.

 

If choose "Create a new account" and type my email it takes be to Xbox live webpage and logs in with my profile (so I have to profile I guess).

However, if I press "Use existing account" and type my email and password it says that Username does not exist or your password is incorrect. (Yes I typed both right 10000 times)

 

I can log in from the Internet browser but not In Game.

 

I found out that Games for Windows Live does not exist anymore, it is Xbox live nowadays. Does that affect somehow?

It would be nice to play my new game...

Uninstall any GFWL stuff and download and install it from here: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/Live/PC/DownloadClient

 

This will fix the issue.

What do you mean with "any GFWL stuff" every game or software that requires it? Including my just installed GTA IV?

 

I bought it from Steam, does that matter?

Sorry I don't know anything about Windows Live things...

Sorry, i meant uninstall the GFWL software itself. You need to uninstall "Microsoft Games For Windows Marketplace" and "Microsoft Games For Windows - Live Redistributable"

EDIT: If I log in here: http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/Live/PC/DownloadClient, ill get inside. Does that mean I have the account for GFWL?

Or are these different things? Do I even have that GFWL account?

 

EDIT2: I have Windows 7, not Windows 8 if you need that information to something.

I believe they're the same thing yes. Have you tried signing in through a game?

Just to check, did you uninstall the software i told you to before downloading and installing the newer version?

Yes I didn't actually have that Markteplace software, I had Microsoft Games For Windows - Live Redistributable and Microsoft Games For Windows - LIVE and deleted those.

 

EDIT: I have Windows Live Essentials installed, do I have to delete those too?

You mean that I have to disable my phone verification to log in to my email?

I think so yes. I've read that it doesn't work with it turned on for some reason. My suggestion would be to at least try it with it turned off just to see if it is the issue.

It works!

It is finally solved, I could't log in to GFWL because I had phone verification on my email.
