Motherboard disk

I know this may sound stupid but what does the disk that comes with your motherboard do and when do you install it?

without the drivers of my mobo I couldnt connect to the internet so you need to at least install it and then you can update it

Yes the disk is useless. The only thing you might need is the Ethernet driver but usually it finds a one from windows drivers and then you can download the newest ones from the mobos website.

for drivers, but i did not use them because:

but sometimes you need it for this:

 

Yes the disk is useless. The only thing you might need is the Ethernet driver but usually it finds a one from windows drivers and then you can download the newest ones from the mobos website.

 

but if you have a second pc, you even don't need the ethernet driver because you can download it via another computer, put it on a usb stick and install it and then use your new internet connection to download the latest drivers for your mobo

It contains drivers. You install drivers while windows is updating.
