CPU for gaming/streaming

Go to solution Solved by FratStar,

This works well for both gaming and streaming?

Yes It will work just fine. Also the Xeon is hyperthreaded while the 4690k is not. At the end of the day it's your decision, but I'm just giving you another option, but don't take my word for it do a bit of research and see if it's right for you. I'm an 8350 owner and personally I have zero problems but it was still pretty expensive I wish I went the Xeon route tbh would have been cheaper and better.

As for AMD:

I have the Asus Crosshair V and it's honestly the best if not one of the best boards and it's still expensive new and I've hit a much higher stable OC running this board than my previous one, but it's just not worth it.

Hey guys, I am building a PC for gaming and streaming on twitch.tv

I have decided everything as far as hardware goes, except for one variable. I need to decide between CPU's. My first option was the AMD FX-8350. My second was the Intel i5 4690k. The AMD benchmarks higher, and has a way better Multi-core speed. The intel has a way better single core speed. I would be gaming (usually a single-core task), and streaming (a multi-core task). I need to know which would be better for my situation. I am on a budget, so the AMD one would be better economically.

"Why not both?"  If you can, get the Xeon E3 1231 V3.

Otherwise, go for the AMD and get that powerful GPU with it.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

Intel, provides more technologies and has better multi-threaded performance.

Neither. Get a HT Xeon and an H81 board.

To all the people that suggested a xeon:

To be more specific I'm on an 800-900 total budget, so that's kinda out of the question. It's basically between these two processors.

Um the i5 4690k cost about $240 while the Xeon I listed here costs ten bucks more. You can get an H87 motherboard for extremely cheap even a H97 board is pretty cheap.

Xeon: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117316&cm_re=zeon-_-19-117-316-_-Product

If you're not privy on that just get a 4690k what's the point of getting that without a z97 board (for all the bells and whistles) which would be more expensive than going the Xeon route, but to each his own.

EDIT: On amazon the 4690k is $235 the same Xeon is $246. I wouldn't want you buying into a pretty dead platform. Plus getting a good AM3+ motherboard will cost you especially if you want to push it close to 5GHZ, then you have to buy a beefier cooler etc. Then I again I don't know your exact build so what do I know.

Spoiler

Cpu: Ryzen 9 3900X – Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Wifi  – RAM: 4 x 16 GB G.
