Samsung A5 alternatives?

My dad needs a new phone for his work, he's currently running a samsung galaxy s2 bought about 6 months after it launched.

 

He wants a similar phone but doesn't want to break the bank. The phone he is looking on currently looking on is a Samsung A5 costing around USD 370 converted from DKK to USD.

 

He primarily uses his phone to check email, calender reminders, and the occasional solitaire game in the evening.

Preferably he wants it to be a Samsung so that he can use it with the Smart TV, but any recomendations are apreciated.

I'd say either the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the S5 mini.
