"Skylake" is (if you consider a revision as a generation) is not 6th generation. It is 7th.

"Skylake" will use the up-coming LGA 1151 socket on the Z170 chipset that will use DDR4 RAM.

The Core 5000 series is that will be available in the coming weeks is "Broadwell," and it uses the existing LGA 1150 socket, and DDR3 RAM.

No verified information from Intel regarding to pricing on "Skylake" Processors yet -- since it is projected to be released in the second half of 2016.

Would the new skylake Processors would it cost a lot more than the I5 4690k?

Probably not, they would just stop making the 4690K.

I would assume that the Skylake processor to replace the 4690k would be similarly priced, why wouldnt it be?

^^^ This

I misread the initial question. The info I gave was for the recently reveiled chips not the still unreleased Skylake ships.
