XSPC Photon Pump combo question

I am looking at water cooling and the kits save so much money.  I really want a separate pump and res though.  Has anyone separated the Photon 170/270 and pump and if so what parts did you get for the reservoir?

The Photon Pump/res combo units cannot be separated or adapted in anyway. you will need to get the straight reservoir and separate pump unit to do so if you want a separate pump and res.

You could use the actual pump motor, but you'd have to buy a new pump bottom, pump top and res. The actual DDC or D5 is the same as any DDC or D5.

They also sell the res on it's own and you can just buy separate pump.
