Windows doesn't boot after moving Pc.

fl4ilinat0r

Today I moved my Pc in my home office.

After I plugged everything back in, windows will not start anymore.

At first it said the software or hardware changed recently. And I let it dot the startup repair with found nothing.

I restored with system recovery but still.

When it should show the login screen I get a bluescreen.

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

did you unplug while the pc was shutting down or updating? you may have corrupted windows, if this is the case mount the drive in a different machine and see if you can still read all your important files it may be best to just do a full reinstall of windows unfortunately

The strange thing is that my Ubuntu als doesn't boot, (same drive) also where the login screen should be shown the screen stays black.

I was asking because if the CMOS battery didn't function, unplugging it would cause the BIOS settings to erase, potentially setting it from AHCI to IDE.(if the setting was changed)

Does the hard drive spin up? If you're using an HDD.

Unplug everything except keyboard, mice, and VGA cable to the monitor and see if it goes to the log on screen with no problem. If it works plug everything else plug it in one at a time and turn on your PC again and again till one of the devices you plug in gives you a blue screen, that one would be the culprit.

I'm now using g Ubuntu from a usb to (going to) copy files so the harddrive stil works.

If I have to reinstall windows again it will be about the 6th time I have to do that on that machine.

Alright, did you do a Full System Restore(Erased Everything) or System Restore Point(selected an earlier point in time and restored to that date)?

I'm sorry I can't remember the name.

But is was in the menu where the startup repair is.

And it said no personal files will be removed.

And there would be programs removed that I Installed a week ago.

So I think it was the restore point.

I also did the thing with the info advanced when you press f8.

I can't look for it now cause I'm copying files.

Ok, so you know about the F8 Advanced Boot option menu, did you try "Last Known Good Configuration", it use the last known successful boot, before the blue screen appeared. I would also try another Restore Point, there should be more than one, try to go back further than a week ago. Also see if it goes into "Safe mode with networking", if it does it could be a Driver that's causing the blue screen or something that was recently installed.

I looked up the system file in your blue screen, and it belongs to Roxio (gaming capture card), the RzFilter.sys is a driver from Roxio, it has to be either updated or uninstalled if you do happpen to have it on your PC. Did you try another restore point.

Press F8 before windows logo appears

Go to Repair Your computer

Select system restore point.

Select a Restore point when Your PC defintely was running fine.

Yes files will not change, only programs, it will actually tell you what programs that will be affected, you can check before you do the restore point. Say if you go back 3 weeks ago, whatever programs that were install after that 3 week span, will be affected. Yea i meant Razer, the people who make gaming products like mouses, gaming laptops.
