Re-thinking my new build

Go to solution Solved by Agent181,

The 4790k will do you fine paired with those gpu's and render not as fast as the 5820k but still fast, since you are not heavily video editing I would just go with the 4790k

Hey everyone so im rethinkning my build plans which were a asus rampage v extreme, and a 5820k with 2x980ti, I just was thinking and i could save close to 700ish bucks if i switch to a i7 4790k and a maximus vi extreme? The rig is mainly going to be used as a gaming/ dev rig and light/moderate video editing?

My Rig: i7 5820k @ 4.5GHz / Asus ROG r9 390X / Gigabyte x99 Gaming 5P / 32GB DDR4 PNY Anarchy / 256gb m.2 / 2x 120gb SSD Raid 0 / 6TB seagate / Dual Dell 23" IPS / Logitech Orion Spark / Steelseries Rival / AKG 553 Massdrop Edition

If you have the money for it. NOOOO! Stay with the 5820k. 6 cores of awesomeness.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean other others don't. Don't be a self-centered asshole. -Thank You a PSA from the people who do not say random shit on the internet.

i kinda have the money for it, im going to be paying for this with student loans and i dont want the request to be too extreme, i mean the old build with all the watercooling components was going to be around 1600usd (cpu/mb/sb/mosfet, vgax2 and 3rads and the crapton of nf-f12's)

My Rig: i7 5820k @ 4.5GHz / Asus ROG r9 390X / Gigabyte x99 Gaming 5P / 32GB DDR4 PNY Anarchy / 256gb m.2 / 2x 120gb SSD Raid 0 / 6TB seagate / Dual Dell 23" IPS / Logitech Orion Spark / Steelseries Rival / AKG 553 Massdrop Edition

if it is moderate I would even go to an i5 4690k and overclock it

i would just stick with 4790k cause of the 30ish dollar difference

remember that your doing sli so if you get the x99 your going to have better scaling in sli due to more PCI lanes. That's a big part if why people on high end builds with sli are choosing x99
