Yesterday I came home after a vacation of 3 weeks, when I tried to start my computer all the fans started to spin (also gpu fans and cpu cooler) and my hdd seemed to work too, guessing my ssd too but dont know that for sure.

But that's all, my monitor doesn't show anything and I also don't hear windows booting up. My mobo, asrock z77 extreme , also doesn't show any number combinations on the led display. It just stays black and doesn't work. So I'm guessing the mobo is the problem.

I'm confused, 1-2 weeks before I went on vacation I upgrade the psu, gpu and case but I hadn't had any problems.

Also: I don't know how I did it but I did get it working last night when I pushed the reset button . It booted to windows just fine, like it always had I wanted to check if I really had fixed the issue so I turned the pc of and tried to start it again but it did the same thing as listed above. Pushing the reset button didn't do anything after that. (pushing clear cmos button also doesn't fix it).

Hope somebody has any ideas. The only difference between now and  3 weeks ago is that it has gotten much hotter in my room: 30°C, but don't think that's the problem either.

Maybe a video cable is loose?

Also try a different display, if it works update all drivers if you can.

Do you have a mobo speaker? Connect it and then tell us if there are any beeps and look them up in your mobo manual. I guess it could be that your BIOS battery ran out. Also, if you get nothing, try resetting the CMOS, that often helps.

I've resetted the CMOS 2 times but no succes. I don't have a mobo speaker but there is nothing about beeps in the manual, only about number combinations. I've tried another mobo and it booted into the bios just fine, so i'm sure it's the mobo. Going to the store tomorrow, hope to get a replacement.

I've tried another mobo and got into the bios without a problem using the same monitor so I'm sure it's the mobo.

Try this.
1. Power on the PC

2. Hold the power button till it turns off
3. Remove the power cables while still holding the button then wait for about 1 min.

4. Connect the power cable then try to power on.

Also check the ram sticks.

LDG is right make sure your RAM is working and that you don't have two different kits like when I had 2x 4gb kingston and 2x 4gb corsair vengance ram.

The RAM is fine. I tried it on another mobo and it was detected by the bios without any problems, first tried one stick and it worked fine, two sticks worked fine too. Going to the store today because it's stil under waranty.

Glad you got your computer working. Sucks you had to get a mobo.  The most likely cause is a power surge from a storm or the utility company being dumb while doing maintenance.  Even if you have your electronics plugged into a surge protector it can still get damaged!

Yeah I also thought it was something like that. But atleast I didn't have to pay for the new mobo :)
