Question about pc build

Go to solution Solved by Xaring,

Get an 17 4970K or an i5 4690K, and fit a 970/980/980Ti instead. If you are going to use the PC for gaming, you don't generally want to spend more on a CPu than on a GPU

Hello!

I've been thinking this thing a quite while now. Is it possible to cut price of this build w/o affecting performance much?

MB: Gigabyte GA-X99-GAMING 5

Cpu: Intel Core i7-5820K

Cpu cooler: Corsair H100i

Gpu: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290

Ram: Kingston FURY 16GB 2133MHz (2 x 8GB)

Psu: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze

Well im fine with a price of those already, but a little saving is always nice :)

Kind regards, Fylverea

Thats a fine rig for gaming generally.. An i5 will out-perform the AMD BUT it will depend on the game... Have you overclocked the cpu... check the usage in various games to see if thats your bottleneck if your noticing performance problems.

Personally I would overclock the cpu and gpu, test to see whats limiting you then upgrade that part.. test again if your having performance issues and if needed look at either an i5 4690k or i7 (if the game you want to use it in will make use of the extra cores.)

Regardless of the rest, I'd grab an SSD.. either 120 or 240GB (240 is the sweet spot at the moment)

Also what PSU have you got and whats your monitor and games you mostly play (or other usage)?

Can you (or anyone else) recommend a good site for components in Finland?

Ok.. so you need a GPU or CPU or just want a whole new rig?

Reason I'm asking is that your on a pretty decent set-up..

If you really want to upgrade cpu and GPU I'd sell your current rig as a mid range gaming rig.

Can you point me to a decent Finnish components site?

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

After a couple weeks of behavioral sciences at my school I can easily conclude my parents need to grow up.

Im not actually sure why i picked that part :P

Gaming

Don't go x99 for gaming. less cores + higher clock speed > more cores + lower clock speed for gaming.

Don't get that PSU. Look at XFX TS, EVGA B2, Antec HCG which are all similarly priced and better. Also, Seasonic SSET600 and so on.
