Is it being actively cooled by a fan? What are your ambient temperatures?

If I'm understanding the post properly, the front fan died and you have another fan blowing on the hard drive?

The problem is probably the type of fans you are using. You need high static pressure fans for HDD cages as it is very restrictive regarding air flow. Now if you have the Seagate 6TB HDD then that drive runs hotter than other HDDs.

I don't necessarily think the fans are the issue. My server runs passively except for the CPU fan and the power supply, and my hard drives hit 43C during high stress.

NVIDIA doesn't make cases at all - can you pop the front off the case at all?

What is your ambient?

My ambient it 32-35 on a normal day and i don't use air conditioning and my HDDs are 34C and 35C respectively with 3x140mm and 2x120mm as intakes and 4x120mm fans as "outtakes" yes i said outtake :P. All are static pressure of 2.6 mm h20 or greater to combat the internal heat. Another thing is how his drive is being used and is constructed. I chose one disk, meaning the actual internal disks, drives when i chose my HDDs to help lower heat, if his HDD is using more than 2 internal disks then the heat is greater and he still has not described his air flow so i will go with air flow for now.

Say this as Scotty from star trek...." Good god man, you got to do somethin' about the cable management"

All jokes aside this is what i would do.

  1. Remove all the unused HDD sleds and space out the remaining HDDs
  2. put a high static pressure fan in front and on the bottom. Cougar, EK Vardar, Enermax Twister Pressure, Akasa Piranha and of course Noctuas are some good choices for you build.

Right so you can get away with how your build is. When you have a hotter ambient as he does that air flow is needed more than ever and he should use process of elimination to fix the problem.
