Application to Help Install Drivers?

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Don't use the motherboard driver CD except for LAN if required. The drivers are old and outdated - get them directly from the manufacturer's website.

Hello,I just built my first pc

I didn't get a disk drive so i cant install the motherboard driver CD, and copying it to USB takes 1day+.....

So, is there any application to get the drivers automatically? like everything that needs to be updated?

I already got my GPU drivers and windows update.

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Living Room "Console" PC: FX 8350 // 990a SLI Krait // R7 360 // 8gb Ram // HAF 912 // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Future Plans:

find a 2nd monitor at a pawn shop

Sell/giveaway R7 360, move r9 280 into console PC, buy a better GPU for main PC.

I would find what chipsets your board uses and get them straight from that particular hardware manufacture. If you have Realtek audio then get the drivers from them etc. There should be no more than 200-400 MB worth of drivers that you need. For the most part on Windows you primarily only need audio, network and graphics drivers.

gpu

network

chipset specific utilities

I also often update the firmware of my intel chipsets..tho I don't advise the average user does this

and bios updates

usb 3 drivers as well

Half of them aren't exactly necessary as the generic Windows driver cab will cover most of them. I only install GPU drivers on my machine and never had a problem with performance or compatibility. That's using the generic NIC and audio drivers that Windows provides out of the box. The only time I can see someone needing to have the official drivers is if you have some high end Killer gaming NIC or audio card. Or of course if Windows does not support said hardware.
