Hi Guys.

I'm thinking of ordering myself a new PC to do some gaming on. It's from the company Chillblast. These are the specs of the computer that I have chosen:

Intel Core i5 4690K Haswell Refresh Processor 3.50 GHz (Overclocked to up to 4.3GHz)

Corsair Hydro Series H55 Liquid Cooler

Generic thermal paste

Gigabyte Z97-HD3 Motherboard - Haswell CPU only

8GB Corsair/Crucial/Samsung PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 4GB sticks)

Chillblast NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Graphics Card

Seagate 1000GB SSHD Hybrid

Corsair Ultra Low Noise 600W PSU

How does that look? Do you think I can play all of today's games like GTA 5, Battlefield 4, Farcry 4 etc at 1080p and at their highest graphic settings or there abouts?

I would like this machine to perform almost silent but for it to be a powerhouse. Is there anything you could recommend that I change in the system to make it like this?

Id get rid of that cpu cooler asap and get a decent air cooler like a cooler master hyper 212. Those low end AIO units are complete junk in my opinion and you have to constantly worry about it dieing.

Performance wise this is good,

if you want it to be more silent get a 970 with a proper cooler

and a large cpu cooler with silent/slow fans (nh-d15 or something like that).

Btw, your pc is set up to overclock, if you dont wanna do that you might be able to save some money.

I think they are going to overclock it for him since it is a prebuilt. But yea your point still stands if he doesnt want his cpu overclocked at all.

So a better CPU cooler like a NH-D15 would make it more silent? Ok.

And the GPU. What would you recommend that I get to make it more silent?

Thanks for the help so far everyone!

Is that the cooler you use?

Not currently but i own it and used it in the past, it is a cheap and simple air cooler that performs the same if not better than that h55 and will never fail.

I second this, you don't need water cooling, air cooling will work because the CPUs are very efficient.

Ok. Do you think the cooler is the only thing I should swap out? Is there any other improvements that I should make to give near silent performance and top performance?

There are other things I'd change, for one I'd build it myself and use parts I trust. This system will be stupid fast either way the only thing that absolutely %100 needs changing is the cpu cooler, stay away from liquid cooling and just get the best air cooler that you can afford and that will fit in your case.

Cool! I'll go for the NH D14 or 15. I'll make a decision. Do you think airflow in the system is fine. I'm using the Fractal R5 case. It comes with only 1 fan in the front should I splash more cash and get more fans installed to optimise air flow to help keep the system cool?

Yea if you can go with the NH d15. The R5 comes with one fan in the front for intake and one fan on the rear for exhaust, this is pretty standard and will be enough. So you don't NEED to get more fans but getting like 3 more is something I'd do down the road to ensure you're getting the most airflow with little noise as possible. Also I'd see if who ever you're buying it from offers an aftermarket cooler gtx 970 like an Asus, MSi or EVGA dual fan card. This will improve temps a lot which with gpu boost will make your gpu run faster. Again both the fans and different model gtx 970 are both totally non necessary and the system will still be great without them, just something to look into.
