Hello, so I want to build a $800 dollar computer but I really don't know what to do for this price range since for my computer I just ordered what ever I wanted didn't really have a set price. I already have a case, I would like to get a 970 or some graphics that may last a while. Could anyone help me with a build? I can go a little over $800 btw

One may want to know that you could get a i5 4690K or even a Xeon E3 1231 V3 if the SSD is dropped.  Those would be a better choice personally including a Full ATX motherboard for a few extra slots seeing as we are using more of them nowadays(or will soon)

Also, AMD is brining their new GPUs around the 16th.  If you can bear to wait that long, it'd be wise to.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

If you waste a wack ton on your GPU, then go AMD, because midrange Intel processors are pretty hefty in price. Get a cheap mobo, from a reliable brand (Gigabyte, Asus, MSi, Biostar, etc.) and cheapest 8GB memory kit you can find from a reliable brand (Kingston, A-Data, Corsair), and a DECENT power supply. (XFX, Corsair, Seasonic) and you're set. But if you spend not so much on your GPU, go Core i3 or Core i5, since they are great for playing games, even the models that aren't using HyperThreading.

the GTX 960 is a MUCH weaker GPU than the GTX 970, if that's what you wanted to know the GTX 970 has better performance/price ratio and will last you a lot longer...if you're building a Gaming machine you do want a 970 or R9 290(x) in there...and as you've seen you can also have a great strong intel quad-core chip to go along with it within your budget.

Spend more for a 970 if you want to maybe do 1440p gaming in the future. But a 960 is okay if you're not planning to switch anytime soon. And 4670 is also a good CPU.

...unless you enjoy steady 60FPS in modern AAA titles at high/ultra settings...a GTX 960 can't provide that experience consistently in latest titles...not even close. A GTX 970 for 1080p gaming is PERFECT it will allow to run near max settings at 60FPS+ in just about every game out there and will be able to do so at least another year.

OP if you are to save money, if the 970 is too expensive in the end, please look over the fence at AMD GPU's instead of a 960 then...the R9 290 and R9 280X BOTH outperform the GTX 960 significantly and in many cases won't cost much more if anything...an R9 290 with a good aftermarket cooler is a good alternative to the GTX970 if nvidia is above your budget.

Also, you can pick the builds submitted and just let go the SSD to save money.
