GTX 780 vs R9 290

I am looking for a GPU upgrade from my current GTX 660 Ti. I have either the R9 290 for $250 or the GTX 780. Now the GTX 660 Ti will leave me with about $125 after everything is said and done. I am trying to spend as little as possible while trying to ensure that I get the best performance that I can.

Get the R9 290 hands down and if you can afford it, 290X

24 fps for that "cinematic" feel

How much is the 780?

I would pick the 290 because it will most likely be cheaper and performs almost the same

Also more VRAM, now im jelly

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

Get a GTX 780 Lightning and overclock it to a certain point and it can run around a 970... @Lays

 

But as for future proofing, 290 as it has 4GB of VRAM.

Both are great cards, I would get the GTX 780 if you're playing 1440p or below and don't mind overclocking. If you don't want to OC, get the R9 290.

I was just wondering because with AMD's recording software, as I do have a YouTube channel, there is serious audio sync issues that aren't present with Shadowplay. I understand that it performs better and cheaper now, but the question remains what to do about recording software...
