Here's the thing. It's not just 15 seconds, it's 15 seconds multiple times a day.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos. I've done the calculation before, but I just did it again, just for you. If I watch YouTube videos at the same rate as I have in the past week, I'd rack up 24 hours of ad-watching time within a year. I don't know if you subscribe to the old adage "time is money", but if you do then you'll agree, that's not "free" for me.

I'll support them by word of mouth and hopefully that makes up for it, but I only get one lifetime and I'd rather not have nearly two days of my year (accounting for sleep) spent watching advertisements.

Meh I sometimes watch 200 videos a day on YouTube sometimes.  Maybe i'm the minority.

I use it mainly for the popup adverts and YouTube ones since the get on my nerves. I don't really mind the ones that are just there on the sites since I don't really pay much attention to them, but then again they do get irritating since on most sites they are scams and viruses. For sites such as this I always turn it off since i want to support the people that I gain enjoyment from so that they can keep their jobs and I can have some entertainment :P

I use it all the time. Too much of a hassle to turn it on and off for certain YouTube videos/sites. Pop up ads are annoying enough, but when they have windows dialogue popups that want you to confirm that you really want to close it, it becomes really obstructive.

Yes, and I'm sorry but I will not deactivate it for anyone. If people wanna ban me for it, go ahead. But it's like banning freedom of speech.

I've settled on an "earn your spot in my filter" happy medium. I absolutely hate ads but I still want to support the websites I frequent so I give you a chance. If the ads are non-obtrusive, relative to the site, and aren't overly frequent I'll happily add you to the filter, otherwise you're doing it wrong and thus haven't earned your spot in my filter.  :D

It sucks that content creators online have to rely so heavily on ads to bring in an income but this isn't a one-way street and I refuse to degrade my experience based solely on their inability to provide at least bearable ads. Personally I much prefer product placements or having the ability to donate and/or subscribe (like Twitch).

I have not used adblock in years and i don't really even notice ads anymore the only ones that i notice and always get f***ed over by are the download ads on a webpage where I'm trying to download something. It can be far to hard to notice what is the ad and what is the real download on some sites.

I use it, but have it turned off for YouTube and twitch to support the video producers I enjoy, and use the non-obtrusive option in Adblock plus, so the less annoying ones are not blocked on sites, so they can still generate revenue, but the large flashing ones, or the ones with sound are blocked.

Lol didn't even know that adblock plus had the option for it :p

It works better with an average, but if you watched 200 videos a day with a 10 second ad, you'd spend nearly a week of the year watching nothing but ads.

Nope, never used it. I usually only watch videos that are 30min long, so the 15 second adds don't add up a lot. Also I used to watch TV and that was just horrible, I mean I would get 5 minutes worth of  ads after watching 10 minutes of a show. In contrast to that YouTube ads are not really that bad, though I do mute them sometimes.

Look ill be honest. I use it because i am sick of these sexy singles in your area bullsh*t ads, fake download buttons and also these god awful ads with music playing in it. I honestly cbf turning it off for linus because i would feel bad for every other youtuber that is in the same situation.  i subscribe and watch every video of around 20+ people and every 30 second ad makes a difference when you watch 20+ videos . However, i don't have adblock on my macbook so if i watch it there, people can monetize me (however, i hardly use it out of school). I used to have limited internet usage and when i go over it, i would lower the youtube quality to 240p. However, the ad would play in fckn 1080p so it took me 10 minutes to watch a 30 second ad.
