Oh damn I forgot to mention that the monitor and mouse and keyboard need to be included into the budget sorry.

And also are these prices gonna be available in stores?

Okay so I'm planning to build a gaming pc.

But I need some of your guys opinions.

Here are my plans:

Motherboard: http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/108142

Cpu:http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/96203

Graphics card: http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/105121

Ram: http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/57952

Power supply: http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/78575

Case:http://m.ncix.com/products/sku/95572

My budgets $1000.

I'm not planning to get them in store.

If I get that graphics card in store will I still get the free game?

This is my first build thanks.

Can you use PC partpicker rather than the site you used? It would be faster and easier for you to build the list up on PC Part picker and then copy it as a text post summary and then post it here.

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

That cpu and motherboard are incompatible for starters. You need a 1150 socket board with that cpu.

This ones compatible with it right?

But is this one a good one?

This Gigabyte H97 board would be better then you avoid any possible bios issues.

If you want to keep the Asus board then check if the board has the latest bios version. You can update some Asus boards without a cpu, but I don't know if that particular one has that feature.

Okay so with those tips I built this

I already have a 500gb Hard drive should I get a new one?

Also is this price gonna increase because I'm in Canada?

Thanks for all the help

If your current hard drive is SATA then it will work ok in this build.

That pcpartpicker link is for USA prices, so it will be more in Canada. You can change the Country to Canada at the top right of the link. That changes the total to $1236.

You could drop the cooler and SSD for the time being if you want to get near your $1000 budget and just use the 500GB HDD assuming it is SATA and no the old IDE type (Ribbon cable connection).

It's a western Digital 500gb 32mb cache

And it is Sata

But it's fairly old so do you think it'll work good

No reason why it wouldn't work. I have a few old 250GB Hard drives in my own pc which are fine.

I would wipe the drive then do a clean install of windows with the new components.

The GTX 960 2GB is ok for a mid range card. The 280X is a good gpu if you don't mind AMD.
