Windows 10? Free forever?

I've always read that, it wasn't completely free, after a year you had to pay the key.

As I said, the upgrade will be free for everyone running a (legit) copy of windows 7 or 8.1 if you upgrade within 1 year of the launch. After that date, you'd have to buy a key to upgrade or get a new licence.

I got a windows logo on my bar, I clicked on it and it showed me this:

And in the third point says "After the installation, Windows 10 is all yours", so it will not expire right?

 

No, it will not expire.

 

Once you upgrade to windows 10, you get it for life, even if you used the free upgrade.

When they say free upgrade, do they mean it will be saved to your Microsoft account forever or free upgrade on a machine that has win7 or 8.1?
