Hey guys,

 

So I've recently bought the Asus GTX 970 as my primary graphics card, however I haven't actually upgraded my CPU, mobo or ram in roughly 5 years. Infact I've got an intel i5 2500k CPU with Corsair XMS3 1333 mhz ram! I was just wondering will my Graphcis card be bottle necked purely because it's much newer than the CPU and Ram?

I don't think there would be a bottleneck.

No there wouldnt be any bottleneck. RAM does not impact perfomance much, and that CPU is still fine. Some people are still using a first generation (i7 9xx) processor!

 

Nah, do a benchmark and compare it to an i5 4790 and see if there is a score difference.

The 2500k doesn't bottleneck anything in the market.

 

There is always a benefit to having a faster CPU, you just plain create more drawcalls. From 2500K and up there might be diminishing returns, but a difference is still there.

You still get a good framerate, and you'll mostly saturate the card, but unless you overclock you can surely see a difference between the 4690K and the 2500K. This is even more the case with the Titan X;

Even overclocked the deficit is still 14%. Call that what you will.
