Deleting a corrupted vhd

Go to solution Solved by destroyer8769,

please set your post as an usable answer to note the fix!

the thing is, im not sure how it happened, i assume it is cause windows virtual drive stopped working and could not connect so it stopped being used.

Sorry for a bit of a re-post but I am very worried.

Ok, i've screwed up, i tried to make a new partition, followed all the steps but the partition wont work (says its corrupted) so now i have 500GB of wasted space on my hdd. Anyone know how to clear that?

P.S its a vhd file and when i try to delete it says it is being used by system.

Boot into the Windows install media and repartition it.

How do i do that? The thing I'm trying to delete is a vhd file that is in my c: drive, it is corrupted so i can't access it through disk manager and i can't delete it as it says it is being used by system.

You'd insert the windows device that you used to install windows.

I have no space left to create a new partition, is there any way to delete the vhd file, it saying system is using it but it isn't cause i have nothing on there.

It's not creating a new partition. The install software allows you to edit the current partitions while not using the device, so you wont get the "being used by system" message.

can I access files while I'm there as that is what it is? Also, will i lose any files accidentally if i do this (such as an automatic format of disk)

grab a usb drive and make a partition on that

Computer's don't make errors. What they do, they do on purpose.
