I've been looking at getting into the 'Verse for a while now and was what's the best ship to get. I know the question been asked quite a lot, but I was wondering what the line up looks like with the new addition of the Reliant and what's the general opinion on it as a starter ship (if it is one).

Thanks.

There are plenty of options. It really depends what you want to do.

The Reliant looks interesting, I bought one myself but keep in mind that you can't play the game if you only have a Reliant as it is not fully in the game yet.

In Star Citizen you can trade in your ships for credit so it is not a large deal if you change your mind.

My recommendation is you get something basic to start, make sure it is a game package and then buy a Arena commander pass.

My personal favorite budget friendly ship is the 325a by Origin Jumpworks at $80USD for a package but you would need to buy a $5 AC pass. It is a fast fighter.

Anyway, I would just think about what you want to do and go off that... Not a big deal if you change your mind as you can change ships.

Good luck,

Leighton

depends on what you want to do, as stated previosly.

the Mustang and aurora run along similar lines, the reliant is supposed to be the next step up. they can do a lot of things, but not many of them very well. they are jack of all trades ships.

the 300 series are pretty, pretty looking, pretty fast, and pretty tough.

the hornets are combat ships, it's what they do, and they really don't do anything else.

the cutlass and freelancer are the next level up, multicrew, multirole ships, they do things very well, and you pay for it.

if you are just starting out, get a basic aurora or mustang, play the game a bit, earn some rec by playing, rent other ships, if you like them beter, you can "Cross Chasis Upgrade" from your base ship to them, and not lose anything really, because the upgrade costs are roughly the same as if you had bought that to begin with.

Agreed, sums up most of the cheaper ships and TBH you should NOT get any expensive ships at the start.

That's a little bit too late for most of us, mate ;)

Yes, all of the ships will be available in game, but the extra money of the more expensive ships goes to development. So it's a win-win situation (except for your poor, poor wallet :()

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

i have the AMD one (i cant remember what its called) because it came with my graphics card. is it better/worse/similar compared to the rest or do you recommend i get something else as well?

Mustang Omega, fine if you want to do racing but the Avenger is a $5 cross chassis upgrade IIRC

I was meaning at least play around with a basic ship first

You don't screw around with an Susan Boyle when you can have a Taylor Swift straight away ;)

Ouch, so you are telling him to choose between a ship that doesn't look too good but performs better than most out there. Compared to a ship that looks sparkly and nice but is very redundant and performs no more spectacularly than anything else out there.

Oh how Han Solo and Chewy would disagree with you.

Granted, you can just put 12 sledges on a ship and deck it out with a spoiler from a Honda Civic if it suits you.

On a side note. When it comes to the more expensive ships, it all amounts to whether you have the funds to support the game to have the LTI (only real reason to get it in my opinion) or if you want to take your time doing it. Personally, I got a few ships, but mostly want ships that will fit my roles I wish to play. If need be, the game allows you to cash in what you bought and change the money to something new until the full release comes.

Still new, but learning

i7 4790K / GTX 970 G1 Gaming / Maximus VII Hero / Swiftech H240x / Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb, 1600mhz, cl9 / 850 evo 250GB /

Wow... :P What I was I was meaning is at least fly a $45 ship before you go spending as much money as people like me and others around the forum have on ships.

I am guessing you mean that: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/promotions/amdmovr

That is a nice ship, it is for racing but as said earlier it depends on what you want to do. It looks really nice and you may even be able to sell that on (Feel free to make me a offer if you want, it looks pretty :P). Just read up on the things you can do and then decide.
