2400 Mhz ram + i5 3470 on asrock z77 extreme 4

Go to solution Solved by Lays,

So the only thing that affects the speed is the mobo and the memory controller on the cpu?

As long as it has an XMP rating, I believe that means it's verified to run on everything that supports the XMP profile.

Hello guys, there is a cheap deal for 8 gb or 2400 mhz ram, and i do wonder if i'll be able to get those speeds with my currents setup. ( i5 3470 + asrock z77 exterme 4)

It depends. You may or may not be able to get 2400mhz, but it will still work. You may only get 2133mhz, but you may also be able to go a bit over 2400mhz.
