CPUID has other software for more basic stuff. Besides CPU-Z, their software include another popular system monitor HWmonitor and one of my favorite basic info software PC Wizard. Speccy is another good basic info software from Piriform (known for CCleaner and Defragler). HWiNFO is most advanced and feature rich.

Btw, why you say that CPU-Z isn't that legit or reputable? (Added after edit:) Asus etc. has even skinned branding for it.
