I want to build a gaming/working pc, with the idea of running games at 1080p at medium to high settings. My maximum budget is arround 1000 € (I live in Spain).
This are the parts that I am about to order:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor (€141.11 @ Amazon Espana)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler (€17.20 @ Amazon Espana)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard (€91.24 @ Amazon Espana)
Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (€64.40 @ Amazon Espana)
Storage: Kingston Fury 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€61.00 @ Amazon Espana)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€51.90 @ Amazon Espana)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (€239.90)
Case: Corsair 100R ATX Mid Tower Case (€51.90)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (€64.90)
Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition 39.9 CFM 120mm Fan (€16.69 @ Amazon Espana)
Monitor: Asus VX239H 60Hz 23.0" Monitor (€152.61 @ Amazon Espana)
Keyboard: Cooler Master CM Storm Devastator Gaming Bundle Wired Gaming Keyboard w/Optical Mouse (€30.00)
Total: €982.85

So I just wanted to know the opinion of more experienced pc owners before taking the leap. Any feedback? Does it seem a solid rig, or should I change anything.

Anyone with experience with the fx8320, will I be able to moderately OC with this cooler and motherboard? The cooler was a hard choice since many options don't seem to fit in this case.

Thanks for reading! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Have you considered a mATX form factor?

I'm not a big fan of current generation AMD processors... They don't even support PCIe 3.0 .-.

Are you comfortable with overclocking?

Maybe expandability for the future? SLi or Crossfire in the future maybe?

Or are you just looking for something that can last a while and not wanting to change it until you have to?

I feel like at 1080p the GTX 960 might be a better option for the price, but then again, I haven't compared anything against AMD's lineup recently due to them still on a year old line of products.

I might wait till after computex and see what AMD has in store with its new generation of gpus and cpus.

What will you use the PC for?

Thanks!

Well, for both gaming and working. On the gaming side.. I hope to be able to play new titles at 1080p and decent frame rates. I have decided to build a pc instead of buying a ps4, so I would expect to get much better performance and have a system that will last me longer

Actually I really haven't, what would be the advantages of an mATX?

Since I am completely new to the pc world, I based my choice on logical increments as well as various builds i have seen around..

Although I have never OC, I would be doing so to maximize the value of the cpu

For what I have seen in youtube, the 280x can provide better results and the price difference is very small... In the future I might do crossfire if it's worth it, but I will probably just go with another video card.

BTW, thanks for the support and feedback... I have tried to ask in tom's hardware and reddit, and didn't get much help

For gaming intel is better, more stable frame rate. AMD has a more variable frame rate.
You can't overlcock the CPU but it's a 8 core.

Ignore the fanboy.

benchmarks:

=3114&cmp[]=51]http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=3114&cmp[]=51

Note the 960 is 2GB in benchmark. I picked the 4 GB for using blender, unity, or other high RAM software.

Hell it can't even use its 4gb effectively because of its crippled memory bus.

Because you want to work and game on it the 8 core AMD would be a good choice in your situation.

not quite true. Intel has a much better IPC on their processors... Then again, much pricier. All a matter of personal opinons

Yes a nice overclock can help iron that out and when working and using it for multi core tasks the and will exceed its not like Intel has double the IPC it's just a solid bit more.

Hey PepperoniExpress and welcome to the forum from me too :)

The initial build looks good. I would get a more powerful PSU with those parts just to be on the safe side.
The guys also gave you some good suggestions to consider.
What type of work are you going to do on that build? Wont the 120GB SSD be a bit small for the OS, updates, some games and your work applications?
I would suggest to swap the WD Blue with a larger WD Black drive so you can run some heavier applications and games off of it and have more space (again, in case you need the space and the SSD is too small to hold all your demanding applications and games).

Captain_WD.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
