Neither! You're better going for a more common socket type. A core i5 4670k would be much better (and a little cheaper) as you can always upgrade without the need to change your motherboard.

Even so, you still have to think about future upgrades. An LGA1150 will allow him to upgrade to an i7 in the future on the same board
