The Gigabyte one gives slightly better performance. However the EVGA step-up thing means if you want to upgrade to a new card that gets released in 90 days, you can do by paying the difference. It mostly boils down to which one you think looks better tbh

Which ever one matches you build the best! Just do it based on looks thats what almost everyone does these days!

Which 970 would you guys recommend over the other

Gigabyte Windforce 3X

or

EVGA FTW ACX 2.0

 

Between those two, I'd take the EVGA FTW definitely. The FTW has a 102 MHz higher core clock and you get EVGA's tech support. People will say you can just overclock the Windforce, but the Windforce 3X doesn't get the cherry picked chips that the Gigabyte G1 Gaming does, so who knows if you're going to get that 102 MHz back in the overclock?
