Which AMD processor to get?

Go to solution Solved by ERSCreeper,

To be honest, I will most likely run it at stock for quite some time then overclock it as required once it starts to become insufficient :P

I would get the 8320 then at a later point if you need to OC, buy a better cooler.

Get an 8320, it costs ever so slightly more (sometimes even less) than the 6350, but you get 2 more cores and an extra floating point unit, which can prove to be very handy when those 8-core optimized games start to come out.

Disable the weak module on the 8320 & you've got yourself a 6350, so it's a win-win either way you look at it.

As for binning, I got my 8320 from 3.5Ghz/4.0Ghz to 4.2Ghz/4.4Ghz on the stock voltage and on the stock cooler, the manufacturing process is very mature at this point which makes binning even less important than it was before.

Base/Turbo.

What OC do you plan to run?

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |
How much vram do you actually need? | APUs and the future of processing | Projects: SO - here

Intel i7 5820l @ with Corsair H110 | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 1600Mhz | XFX Radeon R9 290 @ 1.2Ghz | Corsair 600Q | Corsair TX650 | Probably too much corsair but meh should have had a Corsair SSD and RAM | 1.3TB HDD Space | Sennheiser HD598 | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro | Blue Snowball

Then that's just what I'll do.

With optifine the multi-threaded render option changes that; regardless I'm barely going to play minecraft xD I've exhausted that game and it's vast collection of mods.

Even with multi-threaded options, personally, I've used Optifine with a 256x texture pack and saw no difference in multi-threaded vs single threaded to be quite honest.

Those extra cores will definitely help in the future. I have make mistake before where i think 2 cores would be enough as no games would be using than 2 cores but within a year,4 cores have become standard. That time most peoples i ask said that futureproofting is silly and waste of money if buy 4cores cpu. Most believe that better single threaded performance is the future. Feel like kicking myself after that.

Right now i wouldn`t buy anything else then FX 8350 (if i was going AMD way) price difference is minor and i think it`s future proof (cores) and it`s very good CPU !

Eh I'm on a pretty loose budget but the more I save the sooner I get a monitor :p
