Fractal Design Core 3500 any good?

Sadistic_Potato

Well first of all the only reason I'm considering this case is because Korea has a ridiculous price premium on cases.

I saw Linus' review and he really bashed on it, and considering it looked nice I was pretty disappointed, but somebody on the Korean site posted a decent review for the case and it looked like a lot of the issues he mentioned were gone (fan controller on the back, SSDs don't mount stupidly, thumb screws are held in for a bonus).

It's the only clean looking case at a decent price in Korea, so if anyone bought it recently please let me know if it's any good.

Cooler is a NH-D15 if that helps.

My build: tis be ordered

When Linus complains about something, especially when it's a case like that, he's only complaining because the case could be better. It's a nice case overall regardless.

But yes the D15 will fit. The Core 3500 has 185mm of room for a CPU cooler according to the spec sheet and the D15 is 135mm tall.

Well, according to the Noctua site the D15 is "Height (with fan) 165 mm" and the FD 3500 can handle "CPU coolers up to 185 mm in height", so there should be no problem to fit it in.

Now if you wonder what will happen if the cooler is at the max - my FD 3000 is rated to handle "Supports CPU coolers with height of 160mm" and my Noctua D14 is "Height (with fan) 160 mm", so it was very tight fit. xD

I had the Core 3000 and hated it, so personally I wouldn't deal with the Core 3x00 series anymore, especially if Linus has complaints that solid about it.

Well if only the Define S were sold in Korea.

The review seemed solid, and it's the Core 3500 or gaudy orange/blue led plastic Korean cases that everyone seems to love for some reason, or a Define R5 that's 2.5x the actual price.
