What I will by upgrading:

- CPU

- RAM

- MOBO

I will be mostly gaming on this computer and doing light rendering from time to time. I would like my computer to last for a really long time (haven't had a new computer in the last 5 years - only bought a GPU for it).

Budget: 2000 zł (~$550)

*NOTE* Prices in Poland are much higher than for example in the USA, because we have a ~23% sales tax here :(

Intel upgrade:
- CPU: Intel cor i5 4690k (1059 zł)

- RAM: HyperX DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) 2x4Gb CL9 XMP Savage (256,70 zł)

- MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (589 zł)

AMD upgrade:

- CPU: AMD X8 Fx-8370 [or 8350] (882 zł)/[769 zł]

- RAM: HyperX DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) 2x4Gb CL9 FURY Black series (309 zł)

- MOBO: ASRock 990FX Extreme3 (429 zł)

Suggestions?

Thoughts?

Should I get something better?

The intel build will be way better for gaming, and similar in rendering. the FX line is basically all terrible values now, besides the 6300 for rendering.

If I get a mini atx board for the Intel set I can reuse my PC case and save the difference between the two

i'm gonna move away from intel, AMD and power consumption, and talk about other things interesting here:

intel build has faster RAM, how useful this is isnt very sure, but its there, and it might be important one day.

intel build has a lower TDP on the cpu, meaning less heat into the cooler, meaning a more quiet system. if this matters to you, great. if not, you must wear noise eliminating headphones.

-everyone i know that got an 8350 for gaming in the past few years, has since moved on to intel-

wether this is due to system-specific issues, fanboyism, or anything else, its a fact, and i'd like to mention it.

(one of those people had his 8350 on a pretty nice OC, cool and quiet, before it randomly took a dump and turned into a furnace)

Yes I did notice the RAM was slower, that's also one of the reasons I wanted some opinions. Thanks for your comment

you mentioned a small mobo to fit your case, this one may be interesting:

Thanks for the tip - I found it and it's cheaper than the one I chose

I personally have had both the 8350 and the 4690k. They will both get the job done. I do prefer my 4690k only because I play games that take advantage of the hyperthreading.

4690K is an i5 -> no hyperthreading.

i think you're confused between model numbers.

Intel or AMD if you're using the stock cooler it will be loud.

my i3 560 is dead silent on the stock cooler, just gotta keep it cleaned out.

and yes, an i7 on a stock cooler will be pretty loud, but from what i've heard other people say the 8250 is a flippin' vaccuum cleaner on stock. (cant confirm that tho)

Lol anything with stock cooler you put under load is a ''flippin' vaccuum cleaner'' my mini pc has a i3 4150 and is the same.

God, that video is such bullshit. You're doing yourself a disservice by believing it has any sort of validity.

If you want the best possible performance, the i5-4690k would be the only option.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

so, i watched the video OP mentioned, and it goes against anything i've seen about the different intel variants against the 8350, either logan did a thing wrong somewhere, or the 3XXX intel processors are WAY worse than the 4XXX intel processors...

RAM speeds don't make a huge difference (chart at around 6;08 min mark)
