So I recently decided to start a build and I was curious about the G3258 Anniversary Edition, bare in mind that I intend to put an I7-4790k in this computer either way.  I was just wondering if the Pentium was worth getting to have some fun with before hand? Just to experiment with some overclocking and just to see what a 70$ processor can do.  The rest of the build is at my home all ready to go so this is the final piece of the puzzle the rest of the build as follows...

NZXT S340 White Edition

Gigabyte GTX 970 Winddforce 4GB

Asus Maximus Gene LGA 1150 motherboard

Hyper X 16GB DDR3 1866 Ram

Hyper X 240GB SSD

WD black 2TB

Also tbd is if i want to AIO watercool the system I have no experience with AIOs but i am interested in Quiet so I may end up with one in this system along with as many noctua nf-12s as i can fit.  Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!

What would you do with the G3258 after you got the upgrade? That would be my only question.

Explosives. My suggestion.

My bother has been nagging me to build him a PC as well so that would be an option he shouldnt need more than that if all he is going to play is hearthstone and CSGo but good point.

Although Explosives could work?

Do you have access to military grade plastic explosives?

go for it man! while i wish i would have saved a little more and gotten an i3 or i5, its a great CPU to experiment with without worrying about frying your $300 CPU.

That's what i was thinking overclock it as much as I can a work with it for a month or three then make the switch.

For $70 it's a great way to have fun.  Just be sure you don't fry your motherboard in going for 5GHz :)  You don't want to leave your 4790K without a home.

I personally have the CPU, it performs quite good even with my R9 280, can run most games at Medium-High Graphics, sadly not GTA V :(. But remember to get a good cooler when overclocking it, it can get quite high in the temperatures
