Hello, I a building a about $500 PC and I am trying to choose a CPU. What I do with it is ALOT of multitasking with usually at least 3(MC server, Minecraft, Chrome, Eclipse, ETC) programs open and in the future I would wish to Stream/Record. The only games I play are Minecraft(Mostly) and Trove. I am not a really big gamer. I have been looking for a under $180 proccessor with at least 4 cores. Ive seen the AMD 8350 And when researching it all I can find are Fan-Boys for 1 or the other. I was wondering if there is a better choice for under $180.

Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition. (Overclock it)

If not, the i5-4690 is a solid choice.

If you don't want to overclock then the 4690 is your best bet.

If you can afford the 4690, it's an extremely good CPU for the price, however there is a slightly cheaper 4570 that isn't far behind.

Go for a 750 Ti and a 4690K if you're only going for multithreaded performance!

The FX-8350 if your only doing that is your best bet.

Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition. (Overclock it)

Because that will totally stream games and run a server, thanks I could always use a good laugh.

This would be the perfect Minecraft rig for your price range and can still play PC games at a acceptable level and stream and run a minecraft server.

Guys Minecraft isn't a normal game it's like video editing you need CPU power and it will take as many cores as you give it if you have the right mods installed, for GPUs it won't matter at all you can run it off a 75$ GPU and it will perform amazingly well.

Minecraft uses all cores, esentially for loading the map. A FX is not a bad option.

Anyway, as always, never get a G3258 or you will come crying later complaining about how other games stutter or even don't launch and asking for your money back.

I can only find the if 4690 for $210 Is it that worth it to save up extra for that?

The i5-4440 is $189 on Newegg.

The G3258 is only a good choice if you absolutely only have $75 for a CPU. If you can spend even a little bit more, there are i3's out there that would be better choices. Any i5 is better.
