Jailbreaking PS3 - illegal?

Hi,

So I was thinking- for my new setup, I am going to use my PS3 as a game player SOMETIMES, but mostly as a DVD player, so I will not need PSN. Is jailbreaking a PS3 legal? I won't be homebrewing any games, so the whole "depends what you're doing with it" argument is invalid.

It has copyrights, but not completely legal. Like more on downloading music online other than buying it.

Anyways, in Jailbreak you cant go online as far as i know but i recovered from my own jailbreak in PS3 and now im giving it to my dad, given, hes happily playing FIFA with his mates now

Guess it's not completely worth it.

Its just that today's games are more better played with friends. All the jokes and the stuff you mess up is more funnier with friends. Totally.

Thats why i've given up on Jailbreak bought a GTA V like a year or two ago and played tons of time in it, Its like oh im downloading in PC im gonna go play GTA V

But theyre massively expensive for me! So i only have a few games:

1. GTA V
2. Call of Duty Black Ops 2
3. Call of Duty Ghost (owned by my dad's friends but i didnt give it back and he stopped contacting so its MIEN)
4. and NBA 2K14

Seems boring playing those all over so i gave it to my dad. He now knows how i feel

But i had alot of fun in Jailbreak! Crysis, Dead Island, Just Cause 2, etc. At least i got the Singleplayer completed.

Sony thinks it is. Although there's no issue really, they don't care for it much. 

 

I would go ahead and do it. Keep to offline games incase PSN anti cheat does flag anything.

Its your device, you paid for it and therefore you should be able to do whatever you want with it! As long as you don't use it to pirate games. Jailbreaking iDevices is legal and therefore ps3 should be too.
