graphics card only works in 1 pcie slot

hi guys! I'm using an asrock pro3 gen3 motherboard, a 3570k and a 7950. My problem is that my computer refuses to display anything on the screen when i boot the pc with the 7950 in the first pcie 3.0 16x slot. It will only work when i put it in the pcie2.0 slot below. sometimes, my motherboard makes 4 beeps and refuses to post. Does anyone know what is causing this?

search for 4 beeps error for asrock motherboards. is it a new pc? you could try sending it back.

 

Edit: 4 beeps is a memory error. maybe ram slot is defective as well as a pcie slot.

thanks for the reply. the 4 beeps issue is gone. im assuming it didnt manage to clear its cache on shutdown. Now it's just the pci-e slot. Works find on the second one, not at all on the first. Not sure if its a mobo of graphics card problem :I

If the graphics card works in one slot and not another, thank it's a motherboard issue.
