Can't Decide on which to get.

So Recently I've upgraded my CPU and motherboard from a Core i7 2600 on an Asus P8p57LE (I think) to an i7 4790 on an Asus Z87 Sabertooth motherboard. I'm Still running my old Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2gb gddr3  PCI-E 2.0 GPU in it and I was wondering what would yeild better results for my current situation (Due to bills and stuff) Adding another Radeon HD 6970 for crossfire for like 160 bucks CDN? or completely replacing it with a single R9 290x for about 460 bucks? Im aware that the HD series is falling slowly towards the obsolete era but i wanted some second 3rd, 4th 12th 77th opinions before deciding on anything as my budget may only allow for 1 or the other, and definately not 2x R9 series cards which would be ideal.

My apologies if this is in the wrong section, between people talking on skype and steam being dumb i'm kinda tired lol

290X, then you won't have to deal with CFX issues with new releases.

Get the R9 290x. Lower power consumption, better performance, and like Atmos said there won't be any issues with crossfire support.
